Bosses
World
Bosses are powerful enemies in Palworld distinguished by a large Health bar displayed at the top of the screen, along with a unique name and title. Boss encounters represent major challenges and progression milestones throughout the game.
There are currently five types of bosses: Alpha Pals, Predator Pals, Bounty Targets, Faction Leaders, and Raid Bosses.
Alpha Pals
Alpha Pals are powerful variants of regular Pals that appear as world bosses in fixed locations or at the end of Dungeons. They drop Ancient Civilization Parts and other valuable items when defeated, with some Alphas in the overworld even dropping legendary-tier Schematic. Overworld Alpha Pals also give Ancient Technology and a Pal Bounty Token when defeated for the first time.
When captured, Alpha Pals are marked with a red icon next to their name in most interfaces.
Predator Pals
Like Alpha Pals, Predator Pals are powerful variants of regular Pals that appear as world bosses in their own scripted locations, though they do not appear on the world map and cannot be captured. They also have their own unique drops and Active Skills, making for a tough challenge.
Bounty Targets
Bounty Targets are named Humans enemies that appear as world bosses in their own scripted locations. They sometimes have their own partner Pals and drop Successful Bounty Token when killed, which can be turned in to a Vigilante Bounty Officer in exchange for items.
Faction Leaders
Faction Leaders, also called Faction Bosses or Tower Bosses, are powerful Humans enemies that serve as the leaders of hostile factions. Each one fights alongside their own partner Pal and is encountered inside a dedicated Tower, with players able to challenge them in order to unlock certain valuable Technologies and Expeditions. Each Faction Leader also has a ten-minute time limit to be defeated, though players can still challenge them as many times as they want.
Additionally, if at least six faction leaders have been defeated, players can challenge previously defeated ones again in hard mode.
Raid Bosses
Raid Bosses are late-game encounters that involve summoning a powerful, unique Pal at the player’s base. These bosses require preparation, resources, and base defenses, and are designed as high-difficulty cooperative or solo challenges.
Trivia
- Prior to version 0.1.5.0, a bug allowed faction leaders to be captured. By entering a tower while having a Wanted status, PIDF guards would spawn inside the arena. If the boss was struck from behind during this state, the capture bonus could be applied, allowing the boss to be caught. This behavior was unintended and has since been patched.
